Open Ended Art-Black and White

Photobucket

This week's theme for Open Ended Art is black and white. Hanna was all geared up to make her salt dough witch's hat, so she did not participate this week. However, Joe did....

I simply asked Joe what did he want to make that was black and white? His answer--a mummy. He told me he needed black paper, white paper, googly eyes, scissors and glue. I'm not sure why he wanted the scissors, because he tore his paper instead of cutting:-)--unusual for him. I got everything out and he made it.

Here is his finished mummy:

  1. Too cute! I can not wait till I can ask my son what he wants to make! It will be fun watching how the open ended art changes as he grows :)

  2. I really like discussing what my kids want to make before we start. I think there's great problem solving and discussion happening when we do that.

  4. Totally awesome and completely self-directed. Good job, Joe! By the way, in one book we read a character was dressed as a mummy for Halloween, and Anna asked what it is. I really stammered, because I have no idea how to explain mummies to someone who has never heard of ancient Egypt and how to avoid mentioning death. How did Joe learn about mummies?
