Today's Muffin Tin Monday was no theme, however, our theme was The Very "H"ungry Caterpillar. We studied the letter "Hh" in our Preschool Corner last week and Hanna is beginning a study of butterflies (among other things) in her Science lesson. We are awaiting our caterpillars and lady bug larvae in the mail to begin our hands-on studies, and we already have a container of mealworms we are observing:-). We have "hatched" butterflies each year since Hanna was 5 and love it. We did this once back in *May* with caterpillars Hanna caught herself. All of this said, it was a perfect week for me to finally do a book themed Muffin Tin Monday. This Eric Carle book is one our very favorites!
Nothing too elaborate in our tins this week--simple sounded so good to me! I would have loved to have decorated the cupcakes more elaborately, but couldn't find the tip I wanted to use and honestly didn't feel like messy colored frosting this week:-), so I took the very easy way out! I let the kids enjoy these Sunday. I am thinking we will be having our Muffin Tin meals on Sundays for awhile. Sometimes it is really time consuming to make what I put in them, and it's super helpful to have my husband home so I can do this alone:-). I know this will be a must when our new arrival is here--only one month till my due date!!
Here's what was in our tins today:
- "H"omemade carrot cake cupcakes with "H"omemade cream cheese frosting
- strawberries
- swiss cheese
- oranges (clementines)
- ham and cheese roll-ups
- plums
- pears

Muffin Tin Monday (or Sunday) rocks!! Head over to Michelle's and see what everyone else served today in their super cute Muffin Tins--I can't wait to see!

That is so cute. We love Eric Carle. There is an Eric Carle museum in MA and we are planning a visit later this week.
